Major Construction Work to Begin on University of Kentucky’s South Campus with Enhanced Safety Measures

Major Projects Set to Commence on University of Kentucky’s South Campus

Lexington, Kentucky, March 18, 2024 — The horizon of the University of Kentucky’s south campus is set for significant transformation as fencing installation processes begin, signaling the start of exciting projects in this area.

Increased Safety Measures

To guarantee the safety of the campus and the surrounding community, fencing will be installed around the South Lawn. UK Campus Housing advises residents of Smith, Baldwin, and Ingles residence halls to use entrances or exits on the pedway side of the buildings. This guidance is aimed at ensuring hassle-free navigation around the area during the construction phase.

Simultaneously, there will be no diversion for University Flats’ residents who will continue to use their regular routes for building entry or exit. Any further updates about the projects will be provided by UK Housing to keep the campus community informed. For any queries, individuals can contact UK Campus Housing directly.

Advancement of the Commonwealth

The University of Kentucky, as a prestigious land-grant institution, has a fundamental objective; to advance the Commonwealth. This is achieved through the firm commitment of preparing future leaders, placing students at the heart of their conduct, and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research, creative work, service and health care.

Pioneers in Higher Education and Research

The University prides itself on being a hub of ingenuity and innovation. It has an extensive array of over 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise, and a world-class medical center, all made possible by its trailblazing individuals. The University has earned recognition from high-profile evaluators. In 2022, Forbes named the University of Kentucky as one of the “Best Employers for New Grads,” and it was named a “Diversity Champion” by INSIGHT into Diversity.

These accolades are not only a testament to their dedication towards fostering a community of belonging but also highlight their initiative to advance Kentucky’s overall development. Reflecting back to its inception in 1865, even though its mission may look different, its vision of serving its Commonwealth and the world remains unchanged. Today, it holds true to its motto, “We are the University for Kentucky.”
