Frankfort, Kentucky – Kentucky State University (KSU) has reopened following a thorough investigation by law enforcement into a series of bomb threats that disrupted campus activities earlier today. The university announced around 3:26 p.m. that investigators found no credible threat, allowing students to return to their residence halls.
On Thursday morning, officials responded to KSU after receiving multiple bomb threats reported between 8:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. Preliminary reports indicate that ten bomb threats were made, potentially originating from the same source. In reaction to the threats, KSU’s campus was immediately evacuated, and university officials assured that all individuals were safe during the lockdown.
KSU’s campus will resume normal operations at 8 a.m. on Friday, following the restoration of safety. Although dining services will become available starting at 4:30 p.m. today, other campus operations will remain closed for the remainder of the day.
In addition to KSU, the Lexington Christian Academy (LCA) also faced disruption due to similar threats. The academy was placed on lockdown, restricting access at all entrances as law enforcement investigated the situation. However, specific details regarding the threats to LCA remain undisclosed by authorities.
Moving forward, KSU will maintain a high alert status on campus. University representatives are urging anyone who sees suspicious activity to report it immediately to University Police at (502) 597-6878 or call 911 for emergencies.
The swift response from law enforcement and school officials ensured the safety of students and staff at both educational institutions. Updates will continue to be provided as more information becomes available.
