Louisville, Kentucky – As Lent approaches, many seafood restaurants across Kentucky are gearing up to cater to a surge in demand for fish and seafood dishes in observance of the tradition of abstaining from meat on Fridays. Lent will begin on March 5 and continue until April 17, 2025, leading up to Easter celebrations on April 20. This period annually prompts a range of special menus designed to satisfy both religious and non-religious patrons seeking seafood options.
One notable participant, Thea’s Bass & Biddy Kitchen, is offering a $15 meal that features a selection of seafood, including salmon, cod, trout, and various fried fish. Chef Chris Cain will also make a weekly appearance at The Void Sake Co., bringing along his popular rolling fish fry. This event will occur every Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 to 8:30 p.m. Guests can enjoy menu highlights such as Aunt Nona’s Fish and Grits, a Veggie Po-boy, and cornmeal-dusted whiting filets during these hours.
In addition to these offerings, Sassy Blue Fine Dining will be serving up Southern catfish and Cajun fried shrimp, while Smithtown Seafood continues to be recognized for its fresh fish options and enticing lunch specials. At Palmer’s Fresh Grill, diners can explore a variety of dishes, including oysters, shrimp cocktails, and beer-battered fish and chips.
Family-friendly venues are also extending their seafood selections. Charlie’s restaurant is highlighting a fish sandwich special along with assorted fried seafood delicacies. Meanwhile, Dudley’s is serving classic fish and chips for $16, aiming to attract customers looking for traditional fare.
Joella’s is reintroducing its Crispy Cod Sammie, available in multiple heat levels and topped with slaw. The Cellar Bar & Grille presents a diverse range of options that include catfish fingers, fried catfish tacos, and shrimp dishes, ensuring that there’s a choice for every seafood lover.
Bear & The Butcher is focusing on its Cajun specialties, featuring shrimp etouffee and shrimp creole exclusively on Fridays throughout Lent. Meanwhile, Goodwood Brewing will highlight its “Oh My Cod” sandwich and blackened catfish as part of its Lenten-inspired menu. In Lexington, the second-oldest restaurant in the area will offer daily fish selections, such as crab-stuffed flounder and blackened salmon, to keep customers engaged as the season progresses.
Lee’s is also joining in by bringing back its Fish & Chips Combo for Lent at participating locations, catering to those craving a filling and classic seafood dish. The collective effort from these establishments illustrates the anticipation and preparation that Kentucky seafood restaurants have put into this year’s Lenten season.
