FRANKFORT, Ky. — In a significant enhancement to the Kentucky Safe at Home program, Secretary of State Michael Adams has announced a partnership with DeleteMe to offer a free service aimed at safeguarding the personal information of program participants. This initiative comes as a response to the growing concerns over the exposure of personal data on numerous websites.
According to Adams, “Now we are working with DeleteMe to provide a free service to those in our program to scrub public-facing information off of websites.” The Secretary highlighted the prevalence of data broker companies that profit by selling personal details, such as names and addresses, to anyone willing to pay.
The funding mechanism for this program is unique; it utilizes fines imposed on individuals convicted of domestic violence. “All the services we are providing are free of charge to all participants in our program, including this. It costs about ten thousand dollars for us to provide this program. The taxpayers aren’t paying for this, the bad guys are paying for this, that’s the best part,” Adams elaborated.
This initiative specifically aims to assist individuals who have experienced domestic violence or abuse. Adams emphasized the importance of raising awareness about available resources and the commitment to continuously improve support options for those affected. “We’re working every day to find ways to help,” he stated.
For those interested in enrolling in the Kentucky Safe at Home program, detailed information and participation guidelines can be found through official state resources. This new partnership underscores Kentucky’s commitment to ensuring the safety and privacy of its vulnerable populations.
