BreyerFest Lights Up Kentucky Horse Park with Unique Horse Show and Celebrations

BreyerFest Sees a Thrilling Display at Kentucky Horse Park

Overview

BreyerFest, a unique festival and horse show, recently took place at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky. The event pulled in equestrian enthusiasts from across the nation, offering a blend of educational exhibits, interactive shows, and artistic representations all centered around horses.

Films-

Freedom Reigns and Rescued Hearts

Two films that stood out in the event was Freedom Reigns and Rescued Hearts. Freedom Reigns, a film by Matt Cohn, depicts the therapeutic impact horses have on humans, while Rescued Hearts explores the significant role wild horses play in various environments. The latter includes commentary by Abriana Johnson, a key figure featured in the documentary.

Artistic Displays

Memorial for Cody’s Wish

Among an array of artistic displays presented at BreyerFest, the work of artist Jocelyn Russell particularly stood out. Her current project aims to create a memorial for Cody’s Wish, a tribute named after Cody Dorman. Russell’s intention is that the future memorial at Kentucky Horse Park will be primed for accessibility. Russell commented, “We’ve got the design approved and everybody is on board, and we have those donors coming in. I understand what’s needed for people to experience more of life.”

A Festival Like No Other

Interaction with Horses

Among the excitement and learning, festival participants had the chance to get up close to the majestic equines. This vibrant festival attracted both people and horses from all over, offering a weekend of unforgettable experiences centered around these noble creatures.

Clare Staples, the founder of Skydog Sanctuary, commented, “Just driving around the state of Kentucky and seeing all the green pastures full of every breed of horse, it’s really left a lasting impression on me.” Skydog Sanctuary aims at preventing wild horse slaughter and has been instrumental in rescuing numerous horses. Staples flew all the way from California to be at the festival. She shared, “My biggest inspiration was hoping that — coming here and inspiring these little girls to grow up and be horse girls.”

BreyerFest continued until Sunday, July 14 at Kentucky Horse Park, providing a comprehensive horse extravaganza for equine aficionados.
