Frankfort, Kentucky – The Prichard Committee for Academic Excellence will officially kick off the state’s Family Engagement in Education Week on Monday, November 18, with a ceremony at the Kentucky State Capitol Rotunda. This annual event aims to highlight the essential role that family and community partnerships play in enhancing educational outcomes for students across the Commonwealth.
During the event, Governor Andy Beshear will sign a proclamation recognizing Family Engagement in Education Week. He will be joined by Deputy Commissioner of Education Todd Allen and Brigitte Blom, the President and CEO of the Prichard Committee. These officials will be accompanied by educators, parents, legislators, and advocates who are dedicated to improving education through collaborative efforts.
This year, 54 schools and early learning programs throughout Kentucky will be acknowledged for their commitment to engaging families and communities, receiving the prestigious Family Friendly Certification for 2024. Notably, several institutions from Northern Kentucky are among the recipients:
The initiative also involves other certified schools and early childhood programs across Kentucky, emphasizing the state’s commitment to fostering environments where families can engage meaningfully in their children’s education.
Activities throughout the week will be organized by the Kentucky Collaborative for Families and Schools, targeting early childhood programs and community partners. The focus will be on promoting communication, shared decision-making, and collaborative learning opportunities to enhance the educational experience for students statewide.
As families, educators, and communities unite, the underlying goal of Family Engagement in Education Week remains clear: to improve the educational landscape for all Kentucky students through active family participation and support.
