Disaster Centers to Shut Down for Fourth of July Celebrations
As the patriotic spirit of Independence Day begins to sweep across the nation, the Disaster Recovery Centers in Kentucky, have announced they will be taking a short break in honor of the holiday.
Centers to Reopen After the Holiday
FRANKFORT, Ky. – All the Disaster Recovery Centers, which have been diligently assisting Kentuckians affected by the severe weather conditions that resulted on April 2, will be closing their doors at 7 p.m. EST on Wednesday, July 3rd. The centers are however expected to reopen bright and early at 10 a.m. EST on Friday, July 5th.
Available Assistance and Support
Residents that have been impacted in the affected counties are urged to apply for Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) assistance at these centers. They can also reach out for help online at DisasterAssistance.gov, over the phone by ringing 800-621-3362 or through the FEMA mobile application.
Individuals seeking updates on Kentucky’s recovery progression can visit fema.gov/disaster/4782. FEMA also regularly posts updates on their official social media platforms.
Note on Center Working Hours
The Disaster Recovery Centers provide their services from Monday to Friday between 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. However, they remain closed on Sundays. Throughout the duration of the Fourth of July celebrations, these service providers will temporarily cease operations to commemorate the national holiday.
Locations of the Disaster Recovery Centers
Several Disaster Recovery Centers locations have been set up to support the residents in their recovery process. Those in Boyd County can visit the Boyd County Emergency Management Office. Carter County residents can seek assistance at the Members Choice Credit Union, whereas those in Greenup County should head over to the Greenup County Courthouse. Fayette County has its center at the Emergency Operations Center, and those residing in Henry County will find assistance at the 4H Community Center.
