Lexington Gears Up for Fourth Annual Kentucky Cider Days Celebration from November 4-10

Lexington is set to celebrate the arrival of apple season with the fourth annual Kentucky Cider Days, a week-long festivity organized by Wise Bird Cider Co.. From November 4 to November 10, this event promises to be the largest gathering of cider makers in the state.

Throughout the week, Wise Bird’s taproom in the Distillery District will host special events, while local restaurants and bars such as County Club, Honeywood, Coles 735 Main, and Epping’s on Eastside also participate by featuring Wise Bird’s Kentucky-made cider in their offerings.

Greta Pittard Wright, co-owner of Wise Bird, expressed her enthusiasm saying, “We want to celebrate cider making, because we think that cider is the beverage of the United States of America.” This year, Wise Bird is collaborating with more local businesses and hosting a wider array of events to elevate the profile of cider in Lexington.

Among the highlights, attendees can anticipate cider-based cocktails at various participating locations, with a special new cider release occurring on November 6. This release includes a collaboration cider with Country Boy Brewing, which combines cranberry and cinnamon flavors with a warm hue reminiscent of autumn leaves. Another collaboration, debuting on November 9 with West Sixth Brewing, features a Red Raspberry & Black Currant Cider.

The festivities will commence with an election night watch party on November 5, featuring special cider flights and food pairings from Wise Bird’s kitchen.

A highlight of the week is the cider-pairing dinner at Honeywood on November 8, where a menu inspired by French, Irish, and Kentucky cuisines will include dishes such as fried cheese curds and apple desserts.

The culmination of Kentucky Cider Days occurs on November 10 with Cider Fest at Wise Bird. For a ticket price of $35, participants will enjoy a commemorative tasting glass and access to samples from over twelve regional cider producers. Additionally, there will be activities suitable for all ages, including crafts and games.

This year’s Kentucky Cider Days aims not only to enhance the visibility of cider but also to engage the local community in celebrating one of America’s oldest beverages. More details, including a comprehensive list of events, can be found at the event’s dedicated website.
