Thirsty Fox Partners with Kentucky Black Bourbon Guild to Host Monthly Tasting Events

Thirsty Fox Becomes ‘Venue of Choice’ for Kentucky Black Bourbon Guild

A Groundbreaking Initiative in Lexington

Driven by a shared passion for community and high-quality bourbon, The Kentucky Black Bourbon Guild has struck up an exciting partnership with culinary project, Holly Hill & Co. In a highly anticipated announcement on March 14, 2024, it was revealed that Thirsty Fox restaurant in Lexington will now serve as the ‘venue of choice’ for the guild’s monthly tasting events. Scheduled to take place on the third Wednesday of each month, these tastings will soon offer bourbon enthusiasts a delightful blend of great company, fine spirits, and a unique peek into the African American contribution to bourbon history.

Chefs Chris and Ouita Michel Drive Transformation

Founders of Holly Hill & Co., Chris and Ouita Michel, are thrilled by this new turn of events. The Michels believe food is a reflection of the community, carrying forth traditions from predecessors and fostering new relationships. The KBBG partnership echoes their philosophy, facilitating accessible, community-focused bourbon experiences that highlight diverse cultural influences. Expect to see their eight acclaimed restaurants: Honeywood, Smithtown Seafood, The Midway Bakery, The Thirsty Fox, Wallace Station, Windy Corner, and Zim’s Cafe participating in this venture.

Sharing the Joy of Bourbon Tasting

President of KBBG, Rob Beatty, expressed his enthusiasm with the partnership, seeing great potential in working closely with the Michels. The essence of the guild is to promote goodwill and camaraderie through bourbon tasting. As Beatty puts it, “if there was ever a time to share each other’s company and bond over bourbon, whiskey and fellowship, it’s now”. Announcements on special gatherings and tastings at Thirsty Fox are eagerly awaited by bourbon aficionados.

Turning a New Leaf in Kentucky Bourbon History

This collaborative venture between KBBG and Holly Hill is a significant stride toward inclusivity and acknowledgment of African American contributions to bourbon’s rich legacy. By integrating these aspects into the mainstream bourbon tasting scene, more people are encouraged to participate in these rich cultural exchanges. The Kentucky Black Bourbon Guild is committed to growing alongside partners like Holly Hill & Co. in building a vibrant and inclusive future for the bourbon-lovers’ community.
