She played a key role in developing a teacher rank-change model in collaboration with the Kentucky Department of Education.
Her experiences highlight her deep understanding of the education landscape, which includes serving as director of personalized learning in Henry County Schools in Georgia and a career kick start as a high school social studies teacher.
Perry shares, expressing her gratefulness and excitement for the opportunity to continue the important work Next Gen has been doing in Kentucky for many years.
Previous Executive Director Dr. Lu Young who is continuing to lead the Next Gen’s Leadership Academy, passes the baton with confidence and trust to Perry, believing Next Gen will undoubtedly thrive under her leadership.
Superintendent of Allen County Schools and member of the executive director search committee, Travis Hamby, voiced his endorsement of Perry’s appointment. Michelle Hunt, chief academic officer of Fleming County Schools, also echoed Hamby’s sentiments.
The center has been key to innovating practices, building alternative models to traditional school and most importantly, developing a generation of leaders across Kentucky. Justin Bathon, Ph.D., J.D., professor and faculty director of the Center for Next Generation Leadership, marks Perry’s appointment as a continuation of a long tradition of practitioner-scholars striving to bridge the distance between schools and the state’s flagship university.
The Center for Next Generation Leadership is committed to shaping the future of education within the Commonwealth. Its significant presence is marked by its various initiatives like the flagship Leadership Academy, robust school partnerships, Next Generation Scholars dual credit program and many others.
With the advent of Perry as the new director, the center hopes to bring significant transformations in the education landscape and anticipate a growth over time.
