New Community Health Center Opens in Lexington to Support Homeless and Struggling Individuals

Lexington, Kentucky has become home to the new Isaiah House Community Health Center, developed through a partnership between Kentucky’s largest community-focused addiction recovery resource, Isaiah House, and the Lexington Rescue Mission. This facility is aimed at assisting Kentuckians who are grappling with homelessness, food insecurity, and substance use disorder.

Opened recently, the Isaiah House Community Health Center is located at 535 West Second Street, Lexington, and can be reached at (844) 472-4243. It provides a range of vital services, including primary care, counseling, parenting classes, and outpatient programs. The center aims to serve as a comprehensive resource for individuals in need, focusing on both immediate health needs and long-term recovery support.

Alicia McGee, the director of outpatient services at the center, emphasized the importance of addressing the unique challenges faced by their target population. “We are dedicated to creating an accessible healthcare environment that supports recovery and promotes overall well-being,” McGee stated.

Trisha Goode, a nurse at the health center who herself is a graduate of the Isaiah House program, shares a personal perspective on the facility’s impact. “Having gone through the program, I understand the struggles individuals face. This center offers hope and resources that can be life-changing,” Goode noted. Her involvement reflects the center’s commitment to employ individuals with lived experiences in recovery, which can foster trust and relatability between staff and clients.

The establishment of the Isaiah House Community Health Center responds to the pressing needs of the Lexington community. With rising rates of homelessness and substance abuse, the center aims to fill crucial gaps in healthcare services. By addressing not only physical health but also mental health and substance use recovery, it positions itself as a beacon of hope for those seeking a path to stability.

In summary, the Isaiah House Community Health Center stands as a significant new resource in Lexington, committed to improving the lives of those facing some of the most challenging circumstances. Its services are designed to empower individuals through comprehensive care, fostering a healthier community for all.
