UK HealthCare Opens Second Interventional Pain Medicine Location

Expanding Services for Chronic Pain Patients

In Lexington, Kentucky, to better serve a broader population of patients, providers, and staff of UK HealthCare’s Interventional Pain Medicine services unveiled a new clinic at Good Samaritan Hospital. The new location is located at 310 S. Limestone, Suite A102 in Good Samaritan Hospital, with its entrance to the right of the Emergency Room.

New Location Addressing Wider Patient Needs

The opening of the new location expands the reach of Interventional Pain Medicine services, giving more patients with chronic pain access to cutting-edge treatment. This can limit the intensity and frequency of pain caused by conditions such as cancer, skeletal and spine disorders and other conditions. Michael Harned, M.D., medical director of Interventional Pain Medicine, commented: “This expansion is a direct result of the growth seen in comprehensive pain services already provided at the Kentucky Clinic South. With this new clinic, we can now serve a greater population of patients and support other UK HealthCare service lines more strategically.”

Integrating the UK’s Interventional Pain Management Team

A team of nationally recognized doctors who specialize in treating acute and chronic pain, while minimizing the reliance on medication, forms the UK’s Interventional Pain Medicine group. The existing Interventional Pain Medicine at Kentucky Clinic South will continue operations and current patients will continue to receive treatment at that location. Brock Marrs, M.D., will now see patients at the new location, but no longer at Kentucky Clinic South or Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Hospital.

UK HealthCare’s Significant Role

Not merely confined to the hospitals and clinics, UK HealthCare involves over 10,000 dedicated health care professionals committed to offering advanced subspecialty care for the most critically injured and sick patients originating from the Commonwealth and beyond. It boasts Kentucky’s top hospital as per U.S. News & World Report, the only National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in the state, a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and the region’s only Level 1 trauma center.

Striving for Further Advances in Healthcare

As an academic research institution, UK HealthCare is ceaselessly pursuing the next generation of treatments, cures, protocols, and policies. Their groundbreaking discoveries hold the potential to redefine what’s medically possible within our lifetimes. UK HealthCare’s educators and thought leaders are revolutionising the health care landscape as the University of Kentucky’s six health professions colleges teach the next generation of doctors, nurses, pharmacists and other health care professionals, thereby fostering the highest standards of care.

In conclusion, UK HealthCare represents the power of advanced medicine dedicated to creating a healthier Kentucky, now and for future generations.
