HISA Launches Horse In-Sight Tool to Enhance Racehorse Health Monitoring and Safety

Lexington, Ky. — The Horseracing Integrity and Safety Authority (HISA) has introduced a new digital tool, Horse In-Sight, aimed at enhancing the health and performance monitoring of racehorses. This system provides a comprehensive overview of a horse’s well-being by cataloging its entire career alongside its medical history. The announcement was made on Tuesday by HISA, emphasizing the agency’s commitment to improving equine safety in the racing industry.

The Horse In-Sight tool allows regulatory veterinarians to visualize a horse’s career progression through high-speed furlong charts that track race performances, workouts, and any race-day scratches. It organizes crucial data regarding treatments, injury outcomes, and veterinary status, facilitating comparisons among multiple horses via a dedicated Race Day tab. This innovative approach aims to help veterinarians identify horses at heightened risk of injury prior to races.

HISA CEO Lisa Lazarus described the initiative as a “significant leap forward” in the field of equine care. She stated that it highlights the authority’s dedication to integrating modern technology into horse racing practices to promote better health and welfare standards.

With the recent emphasis on equine safety due to increasing concerns over horse welfare in competitive racing, the launch of Horse In-Sight reflects a proactive measure by HISA. The tool is expected to empower veterinarians to make timely, informed decisions that will ultimately enhance the well-being of racehorses across the sport.

The availability of this tool marks a critical moment in the ongoing efforts to harness data-driven solutions to protect both horses and the integrity of horse racing. By providing a holistic view of each horse’s health data, HISA is paving the way for a safer and more regulated environment in the racing industry.
