Harlan County Judge-Executive Elected KACo President

Harlan County, Ky. – Judge-Executive Dan Mosley has been elected as the new president of the Kentucky Association of Counties (KACo). He officially took the oath of office on Thursday during KACo’s 50th annual conference held in Louisville.

In his inaugural remarks, Mosley emphasized the significance of his new role, stating, “Serving as KACo President is an incredible honor. To represent judge-executives, magistrates, commissioners, property valuation administrators, county clerks, jailers, sheriffs, county attorneys, commonwealth’s attorneys, circuit clerks, and coroners is a responsibility that I will not take for granted.”

Dan Mosley has a longstanding career in public service, having served three terms as judge-executive since first being elected in 2014. His extensive involvement with KACo includes roles on the KACo Board of Directors, membership in the KACo Insurance Agency Board, and a previous position as Vice Chair of the KACo Workers Compensation Board.

The KACo aims to provide education, advocacy, and support for Kentucky’s counties, promoting collaboration and sharing best practices among its members. Mosley’s election as president will enable him to influence policies that affect county governance statewide.

With over nine years of experience in local government leadership, Mosley plans to focus on strengthening the connection between county officials and enhancing community resources across Kentucky. His commitment to serving the interests of constituents and local government officials alike underscores his leadership philosophy.

The significance of the conference and Mosley’s election marks a pivotal moment for Harlan County and the KACo. As the organization celebrates its 50th anniversary, it aims to chart a progressive course for the future, drawing on the collective expertise and insights of its members. Mosley’s leadership will be crucial in navigating these developments as he addresses the evolving needs of Kentucky’s counties.
