WINCHESTER, Ky. – Authorities responded swiftly to reports of gunfire in the vicinity of South Burns and Euclid Avenue on Thursday afternoon. The Winchester Police Department (WPD) received the call about the incident at approximately 12:55 p.m.
In response to the situation, officers established a perimeter to search for any suspects potentially involved. As a precaution, Clark County Public Schools (CCPS) and the CCPS Police Department enforced lockdowns at nearby schools during the event. Both school authorities and law enforcement confirmed that no shots were discharged on school property, and no suspects entered school grounds while the investigation was ongoing.
While police worked to ensure the safety of students, they coordinated with school officials for a secure dismissal process. By 1:56 p.m., WPD reported the detention of three individuals and the recovery of a firearm linked to the incident.
