Lexington Police Call Off Golden Alert for 67-Year-Old Man Found Safe

Golden Alert for 67-Year-Old Cancelled by Lexington Police

LEXINGTON, KY – A Golden Alert for a 67-year-old man, previously issued by the Lexington Police Department, has now been cancelled after the subject was found and is safe.

Details Preceding the Cancellation

Wayne Dodd, a resident of Monticello, was last seen around 8:00 p.m. on March 19 in the 3400 block of Nicholasville Road. The alert had been raised due to Dodd’s dementia and his relatives’ increasing concern for his wellbeing.

The 67-year-old was described as a 6-foot tall man, weighing approximately 200 pounds. His physical attributes include gray hair and blue eyes. He was last observed wearing a gray shirt coupled with gray pants.

Moreover, Dodd was believed to be travelling in a silver 2012 Chevrolet Camaro bearing a Kentucky license plate numbered 0615EB. Immediately following his disappearance, citizens were exhorted to report any spotting of Dodd or his car to the emergency hotline 911.

The Significance of Golden Alerts

The immediate action taken by the Lexington Police Department in issuing a Golden Alert indicates the fundamental role of such alerts in ensuring the safety of at-risk individuals, particularly the elderly or those with mental health conditions. A quick public response to such alerts can drastically reduce time to locate missing persons thereby increasing chances of their safe return.

Returning to Safety

In the wake of increasingly frantic searches and widespread public concern, Wayne Dodd has been located. He is now confirmed to be safe and the Golden Alert has been cancelled. News of the cancellation has been relayed to all relevant authorities and the search is officially terminated.

Appreciation to the Public

The success in locating Dodd wouldn’t have been possible without the collective efforts of the police and the local community involved in both the search and raising public awareness. This demonstrates the indispensable role of empathy and community spirit in safeguarding our neighborhoods and ensuring the welfare of every resident, particularly the most vulnerable ones.

Remember, any information, regardless of how minor it may seem, can be crucial when someone is reported missing. Prompt response and public cooperation can make all the difference. Everyone’s a potential lifesaver!
