Glasgow, Ky. – Juana Witty, a resident of Glasgow, is set to share her journey with postpartum depression at the upcoming Kentucky Section’s Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) conference. This event will take place at Baptist Health in Lexington on Thursday and Friday. Witty’s presence as a guest speaker aims to provide crucial insights into the realities of postpartum depression, following her viral TikTok video that brought awareness to the mental health issue in 2021.

In her impactful ten-second video, Witty opened up about her struggles, stating, “Postpartum depression is real. I didn’t know I had it. I could really use some friends.” Since then, she has successfully connected with a support group and developed lasting friendships that she continues to cherish. “We communicate regularly, and they check on me, I check on them,” Witty recounted, emphasizing the importance of support during difficult times.

At the AWHONN conference, Witty will present her series titled ‘Laughter and Tears: The Reality of Postpartum Depression’, featuring a Q&A session with fellow postpartum depression survivor Angelina Spicer. Their conversation will delve into their personal experiences, with Witty noting, “Angelina also suffered from postpartum depression, and she came to help me.” This collaboration aims to enhance nurses’ understanding of the condition, ultimately enabling them to better assist mothers coping with similar challenges.
