GEORGETOWN, Ky. — Two individuals have been apprehended for allegedly stealing packages from multiple homes in the Georgetown area. The arrests were made by local police on Friday, following reports of the so-called “porch pirates” targeting residences.
The Georgetown Police Department announced on their social media page that traffic and patrol officers caught the two suspects near Dunlap Drive after they reportedly stole packages from four different homes. This recent theft activity has raised concerns among residents regarding the safety of their deliveries.
Authorities reported that three of the stolen packages have been successfully recovered and returned to their rightful owners. However, one package remains unclaimed, prompting police to urge residents to report any suspicious activity they may observe in their neighborhoods.
In their social media post, the police emphasized the importance of community vigilance, stating, “Remember to keep an eye out for suspicious activity and report it immediately.” This advice is particularly pertinent as package theft has increasingly become a concern with the rise of online shopping.
This incident serves as a reminder for residents in Georgetown to take proactive measures in safeguarding their deliveries and to stay alert for potential criminal activities in their areas.
