Valet Parking Premiers for Markey Cancer Center Outpatient Appointments

Launching a Convenient Service for Cancer Patients

In an effort to enhance patient comfort and convenience, the University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center has rolled out a fresh initiative – free valet parking. Initiated on April 12, 2024, this complimentary service is available for patients with outpatient appointments at the renowned medical institution.

As part of a series of improvements, the Center has introduced this service with the objective to ensure unhindered access to cancer treatment for its outpatients. The underlying plan is to aim for this venture to eventually expand to the forthcoming Cancer and Advanced Ambulatory Building.

Nitty-Gritty of the Service

The Markey Cancer Center’s valet parking is accessible Monday to Friday, from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Patients can avail this service at the primary entrance of the Ben F. Roach Cancer Care Facility, located at 800 Rose Street. The check-in for the valet service is situated at the circle entrance of the building.

To further improve the convenience quotient for patients, the service proposes two means to collect the parked vehicle. Patients can either use a text message system, receiving a notification when their car is ready, or opt for a traditional paper tag. One aspect to note is that the service is entirely free—no tipping is encouraged or allowed.

Expanded Accessibility

While the service is primarily designed for Markey patients, it also extends to those accompanying them for outpatient appointments at the Ben F. Roach building, Marylou Whitney and John Hendrickson Cancer Facility, Precision Medicine Clinic, Apheresis Clinic, and Infusion Services situated in the UK Albert B. Chandler Hospital Pavilion H.

Alternative Parking Options

For those who prefer to self-park, free options are available at the UK HealthCare Parking Garage on Transcript Avenue, which provides a shuttle service to Markey. The Kentucky Clinic Parking Garage is also available within a short walking distance on Huguelet Avenue. For Saturday and Sunday appointments, the Whitney-Hendrickson parking lot is an option, although availability may be impacted by construction. The Kentucky Clinic and UK HealthCare garages are also available for parking on weekends.
