Lexington Health Department Announces Free Flu Shot Clinic to Combat Upcoming Season

Lexington, KY – The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department is offering a free flu shot clinic on Thursday, addressing the critical need for vaccinations in the community. Following the previous flu season, which saw nearly 4,000 confirmed cases and ten flu-related deaths in Fayette County, health officials urge residents to protect themselves and others through vaccination.

The clinic will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Fayette Mall, specifically near Dillard’s. Officials emphasize that vaccination is the best defense against the flu, particularly in light of last season’s statistics, where around 80% of confirmed cases involved individuals who had not received the vaccine.

In addition to standard flu shots, a high-dose vaccine will be available for individuals aged 65 and older, although supplies for this vaccine are limited. Health officials encourage eligible residents to attend and receive their vaccination as a proactive measure against the spread of influenza.

With the flu season approaching, local health authorities continue to advocate for vaccination as a public health priority. The upcoming clinic presents an essential opportunity for the community to access free vaccines, which can significantly reduce the likelihood of widespread flu outbreaks.

Residents are encouraged to bring family members and friends to the clinic to ensure that as many people as possible are vaccinated. This initiative aligns with ongoing efforts to enhance public health and safeguard the community during the upcoming flu season.
