Fayette County Public Schools Introduces FCPS Safety Tracker for Enhanced Communication and Transparency with Parents

Lexington, Ky. – Fayette County Public Schools (FCPS) has unveiled a new initiative aimed at enhancing communication and transparency with parents and guardians. The launch of the FCPS Safety Tracker occurred this week and is now live on the district’s website. It can also be accessed through the headers of individual school websites.

The Safety Tracker features a sidebar that functions like a ticker, providing real-time information about various situations affecting the schools within the district. “As we investigate and our findings are complete, then we want to make sure we communicate that and be transparent and have open lines of communication with our families,” stated FCPS Chief Martin Schafer.

This new online tool encompasses various important resources, including emergency procedures, weather guidelines, and the FCPS Safety Plan. “That kind of communication, as a parent myself, you can’t have that fast enough, but we also want it in real time and we want it as accurate as possible. I think this tool will really enable communication with our families,” Schafer added.

The introduction of the FCPS Safety Tracker marks a significant step in the district’s effort to improve information sharing regarding safety protocols. The platform is intended to keep families informed and engaged, thereby fostering a collaborative environment between the schools and the community.

As this tool is brand new, the district encourages feedback from parents and guardians on how to enhance the Safety Tracker further. Their input will be valuable in refining the system and ensuring it meets the needs of the community effectively.

With this launch, FCPS aims not only to improve transparency but also to strengthen trust among families concerning safety measures implemented in schools. The Safety Tracker is expected to play a crucial role in achieving these objectives.
