Fayette County School Board Race Sees Candidacy Withdrawal

Fayette County—In a significant shift for the upcoming school board elections, data analyst Gregory Brenner has officially withdrawn his candidacy for the Third District Fayette School Board. Brenner announced his decision on [specific date, if known], citing family discussions and personal reflection.

As Brenner steps back from the race, he has thrown his support behind fellow candidate Isaac Sebourn. “After discussing with my family and lots of consideration, I am announcing the withdrawal of my candidacy for School Board District 3 in Fayette County and endorsing Isaac Sebourn,” said Brenner. He expressed his belief that Sebourn possesses the necessary qualities of accountability, leadership, and integrity for the position.

“Isaac is a devoted husband and father of three children that attend public schools in Fayette County,” he added, emphasizing Sebourn’s dedication to local education.

Brenner’s exit narrows the field in District 3, leaving Kathleen “Penny” Christian and Danny Anthony Everett also vying for the position alongside Sebourn. The election is scheduled for November 5, 2024.

In addition to the District 3 contest, other vacant seats on the Fayette County School Board are also drawing attention. In the Fifth District, challenger Betsy Rutherford is running against incumbent Amy Green. Meanwhile, in the First District, Monica Mundy will face off against incumbent Marilyn Clark.

Fayette County voters are preparing for a pivotal election as candidates address various educational issues and the future direction of the school district.
