Campbellsburg, Ky. — A tragic accident claimed the life of one individual in Gallatin County on Tuesday. According to the Kentucky State Police (KSP), the fatal crash involved a Mack dump truck and two other vehicles.
The incident occurred around mid-afternoon on Highway 42. Preliminary investigations reveal that a 2020 Mack dump truck, driven by Stacy Rigdon, a resident of Batavia, Ohio, was traveling eastbound when it crossed the centerline. The dump truck struck a westbound 2012 Honda Accord, which subsequently veered off the road and collided with a tree.
Following the initial impact, the dump truck continued on its path and struck a 2022 Hyundai Venue, driven by Sarah Bingham of Florence. Tragically, Bingham was pronounced dead at the scene by the Gallatin County Coroner.
The condition of Rigdon, the driver of the dump truck, and the occupants of the Accord remains undisclosed as the investigation is still ongoing.
KSP has not yet determined the cause of the crash, and more details are expected to emerge as they continue their inquiry into the incident.
This accident underscores the importance of road safety and vigilance while driving, particularly on busy highways.
