Paris, KY Achieves Fastest Growing School District Status
Paris City, Kentucky, has emerged as the fastest growing school district in the state, according to a recent ranking by the Kentucky Department of Education. This year, the district moved from the top ten to number one, a position that has thrilled Superintendent Stephen McCauley.
“It’s exciting to be at that spot and see the continued growth and excitement in our community,” said McCauley.
The growth has been accompanied by the completion of a $10 million expansion of the elementary school. Parents toured the new wing on Wednesday, which includes several classrooms, space for childcare, an auxiliary gym, and a cafeteria. The expansion, which took two years to complete, aims to accommodate the district’s near 900 students from Pre-K through 12th grade.
“This one really takes the cake,” McCauley added, referring to the new facilities. “It’s a really nice space that all of our kids can use.”
Paris City Schools prides itself on its community atmosphere. Parent Kelly Catlett stated, “We’re like a small family. Everyone gets along.” This close-knit environment is recognized for its ability to offer more opportunities to students, especially in extracurricular activities.
“We had one student letter in seven varsity sports; you just can’t do that at a big school,” McCauley noted, highlighting the advantages of a smaller student body.
Following Paris, Dawson Springs ranked number two and Bowling Green number three in the list of fastest growing school districts in Kentucky.
