Family of Lexington Shooting Victim Offers $50,000 Reward for Information Three Years After Tragedy

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Three years after the tragic shooting of Sergio Villarados, his family is still seeking answers. Villarados was just 17 when he was found with a fatal gunshot wound inside a flipped car on Price Road, near Lexington Cemetery. His girlfriend, aged 19, was also shot in the incident but survived.

On October 28th, the anniversary of his death, Villarados’ family held a gathering at his gravesite, marking the occasion with profound sorrow. “He was someone really important to us,” said his mother, Alvis Villarau, highlighting her daily visits to his grave since his burial. To commemorate the months since his passing, the family placed 36 blue roses at the site, one for each month he has been gone.

Villarados’ aunt recalled the day of the shooting as “the most difficult day of her life,” underscoring the ongoing emotional toll his absence has taken on the family. Sergio, known to many as Alex, was a high school senior who loved soccer and dancing, with aspirations of becoming a paramedic.

Despite the time that has passed, law enforcement has made no new progress in the case, prompting the family to take action. They are now offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. Additionally, Bluegrass Crime Stoppers has joined their efforts by providing a reward for tips. Those with information are encouraged to leave a 100% anonymous tip by calling 859-253-2020.

As the family continues to honor Sergio’s memory, they remain hopeful that the public may hold the key to uncovering what happened that fateful night.
