Be Prepared: Central Point of Distribution Training

As part of its ongoing commitment to emergency preparedness, the Lexington Emergency Management will host a crucial training program, the Central Point of Distribution (CPOD) on June 28, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. at the Public Safety Operations Center (PSOC).
What is CPOD?: Course Description
The Central Point of Distribution (CPOD) Training provides comprehensive knowledge on the planning, operations, and demobilization stages of a POD mission. In this course, participants will gain a deep understanding about what constitutes a point of distribution, how points of distribution are set up and operated, and how to effectively supervise a POD. The course’s encapsulating framework includes a two-hour instructional block, followed by a hands-on two-hour field/practical exercise.
Who Can Participate?: Student Criteria
This training is available to all emergency management personnel, rescue teams, fire department staff, emergency medical staff, law enforcement, or other groups having responsibility for a POD/LSA. It’s important to note that a minimum of twenty (20) advance student registrations are required, but no more than thirty (30) will be accepted. Every applicant is considered a student in this class upon receipt of the application and no acceptance letters will be sent.

For those planning to attend the CPOD training, please remember to dress appropriately for the field exercise. Meals, lodging, and travel expenses associated with the participation in this event are the sole responsibility of the student and will not be reimbursed by KYEM.
