LEXINGTON, Ky — English musician Tom Cridland, known for his powerful renditions of classic Elton John hits, prepares for a colossal tribute tour set to ignite the stage at Lexington’s Lyric Theatre on April 10th.
Cridland’s love for music is evident in his profound connection and expressive interpretation. Sitting in front of the piano, he communicates with the audience through his soulful renditions. The panache of his presentation inevitably bears semblance to his idol, Sir Elton John.
“The connection to the music can’t be controlled,” Cridland remarks, reflecting on the power of music. “When you truly connect with music, you feel it touching your soul in a way that’s almost impossible to describe.”
Cridland’s admiration for Sir Elton John began in 2010 during his association with bandmate Nigel Olsson. He holds immense respect for John’s unique personality and his commitment to maintaining sobriety. This perspective eventually led Cridland on a journey to sobriety himself and helped him through a severe struggle with alcoholism.
Cridland recounts a harrowing struggle with excessive drinking. What commenced as a joyful exploration during his university years soon spiraled into a relentless pursuit of hedonistic indulgence. However, amidst the worldwide lockdown triggered by the pandemic, Cridland found solace in music and began playing John’s melodies.
These rigorous practice sessions, coupled with a deep love for Sir Elton’s music, paved the path for Cridland’s present-day nationwide tribute tour. In approximately six months, he will deliver 100 shows, attributing his transformation and newfound success to the legendary musician.
Cridland attributes his undying drive to Sir Elton’s inspirational work ethic and hopes his journey can guide others grappling with similar predicaments. “I’ve got to put in that extra effort to compensate for lost time,” he remarks. “If anyone is struggling out there, my story might serve as a source of inspiration.”
Cridland plans to showcase his passion for the immortal melodies of Elton John in his tribute tour, starting in Lexington. He perceives his performances not just as concerts, but as opportunities to share his transformative journey with audiences around the nation and resonate with those facing similar struggles.
Tom Cridland will be performing at the Lyric Theatre in Lexington. His Elton John tribute tour is ready to light up the stage and inspire many on Wednesday, April 10. Additional information about Cridland, the tour, and ticket purchases is available online.
