Police Investigating Downtown Lexington Shooting Near Fourth of July Parade

LEXINGTON, Ky.- Police in Lexington are currently investigating a shooting incident that took place in the city’s downtown area. The shooting reportedly took place near the festive location of the Fourth of July parade and has alarmed locals and parade participants alike.

The Lexington police confirmed that they received a call regarding a shooting incident on West Short Street and North Upper Street just before 12:30 PM on Thursday afternoon. Upon their arrival at the scene, a male gunshot victim was found, who claimed that he was shot on the 400 block of North Upper Street.

Collecting Evidence

After the initial interview with the victim, officers proceeded to comb the area for physical evidence. They managed to recover several shell casings from the location described by the victim, thereby confirming the occurrence of the violent incident.

It’s noteworthy that the shooting took place concurrently with the city’s annual Fourth of July parade, a well-known community event attracting a large crowd to Lexington’s downtown streets. Given the timing and the location of the shooting, there are concerns about the safety of the public events in the city.

Victim’s Condition

The male victim of the shooting, according to police reports, has sustained non-life-threatening injuries. He was provided with prompt medical assistance and is now reported to be in a stable condition.
