CRÚ Food & Wine Bar Closes Abruptly in Lexington Days Before Thanksgiving

Lexington, Kentucky — CRÚ Food & Wine Bar, a prominent restaurant at The Summit at Fritz Farm, has closed its doors abruptly just days before Thanksgiving. The establishment, which opened in 2017, was known for its extensive wine list featuring over 300 selections and a diverse Napa-style menu.

The closure, effective November 24, 2024, was confirmed by a sign posted on the restaurant’s door. It cited “ongoing market volatility and unforeseen economic circumstances” as the primary reasons for the shutdown. This announcement comes shortly after the restaurant had planned to host a special Thanksgiving dinner on November 28.

Located at the upscale mixed-use development at Nicholasville Road and Man o’ War Boulevard, CRÚ was one of the original tenants of The Summit. The restaurant occupied a desirable position within the development, contributing to its reputation alongside nearby dining options like Shake Shack and Honeywood.

Despite the unexpected nature of the closure, the chain’s website still lists the Lexington location as operational. However, patrons with reservations for the Thanksgiving dinner received notifications regarding the cancellation over the weekend. The abrupt decision has sparked frustration among both customers and staff. One concerned patron noted on social media that employees were only informed of the closure on the day it took effect, leaving them with minimal notice.

Brian Voyles, general manager of The Summit, confirmed the restaurant’s permanent closure. This marks at least the eighth major dining tenant to leave The Summit, indicating ongoing challenges in the local dining landscape. Previous closures have included well-known establishments such as Ted’s Montana Grill and Babalu Tapas and Tacos, raising questions about the future of dining options at the development.

The closure of CRÚ Food & Wine Bar adds to a growing list of restaurants in the area grappling with economic difficulties. The community has expressed disappointment over the loss of another dining venue, particularly at a time when local establishments are vital for holiday celebrations.

In its message to patrons, CRÚ expressed gratitude for the support received over the years and a hope for future opportunities under better circumstances. The abrupt end of operations leaves a significant gap in The Summit’s dining portfolio as the holiday season approaches.
