Comic Surge Returns to Nicholasville

Nicholasville, Kentucky is gearing up for an exciting cultural event as the Jessamine County Public Library (JCPL) hosts the annual Comic Surge on Saturday, October 12, 2024. The event runs from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., offering a vibrant atmosphere that merges the thrill of a comic convention with the welcoming environment of a library.

Comic Surge features a variety of attractions, including vendor and artist booths, a professionally judged costume contest, and a range of live performances. Attendees can expect to see an array of costumed characters, including notable figures such as Glinda and Elphaba from Wicked, Daenerys Targaryen, and iconic gaming characters like Zelda and Link. Additionally, the event will feature impressive life-sized dragons and interactive experiences.

The event is designed to be family-friendly and aims to unite fans of all ages. Kate Irwin, JCPL’s programming coordinator of special events, expressed enthusiasm, stating, “This is a unique way to unite fans and enthusiasts across our community. Each year, we offer something new and unexpected – while maintaining our fun and family-friendly environment.”

This year’s Comic Surge offers several interactive activities, such as a Smash Brothers tournament, VR headset demos, and even Scottish games. Participants of all ages can also enjoy a LEGO building challenge, skits, and the much-anticipated dragon meet-and-greets.

With eight years of successful events behind them, the JCPL continues to bring a unique blend of creativity and community engagement to Nicholasville. This year’s event promises to be as memorable as ever, giving attendees an opportunity to immerse themselves in a world of imagination and fantasy.
