FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Kentucky State Board on Electric Generation and Transmission Siting (Siting Board) is set to host a public hearing regarding the proposed Clover Creek Solar Project in Breckenridge County. This meeting aims to provide local residents with information and an opportunity to offer their comments on the project.
The Clover Creek Solar Project LLC has submitted an application to the Kentucky Public Service Commission (PSC) for a Construction Certificate. The proposal involves constructing a solar facility that would generate approximately 100 megawatts of electric power, alongside a nonregulated transmission line.
The public comment hearing is scheduled for Monday, December 9, at 5 p.m. Central Time. It will take place at the Breckinridge County Fiscal Court, located at 208 South Main Street, Hardinsburg. This meeting will serve as a local platform where community members can express their opinions and concerns regarding the project.
The Siting Board is comprised of three members from the PSC, the Secretary of the Kentucky Energy and Environmental Cabinet or a designee, and the Secretary of the Kentucky Economic Development Cabinet or a designee. For specific cases, the county judge or chair of local planning and zoning, along with a locally appointed member by the governor, may also participate. The chair of the PSC serves as the chair of the Siting Board.
For those unable to attend the hearing in person, comments can still be made in writing. They can be submitted through the PSC’s website, via email to PSC.comment@ky.gov, or by mailing to P.O. Box 615, Frankfort, KY 40602-0615. It is important for all comments to include the commenter’s name, address, and the case number, which is 2024-00253.
The Siting Board operates under funding derived from fees paid by applicants to the PSC, which also provides staff support for the Board. Additional information pertaining to the full application, review processes, and public comments can be accessed through the PSC’s website.
This public meeting represents a significant opportunity for engagement from local residents regarding the planned solar facility, which could impact energy generation and local development in Breckenridge County.
