Lexington Hosts 6th Clean Slate Expungement Clinic and Job Fair to Support Individuals with Criminal Records

Lexington, Ky. – On Wednesday, the city hosted its 6th Clean Slate Expungement Clinic and Job Fair at the Central Bank Center, providing individuals with prior criminal records an opportunity for a fresh start. The event aimed to remove barriers to employment for those impacted by their pasts, fostering a more inclusive workplace environment in Fayette County.

Chief Equity and Implementation Officer Tiffany Brown highlighted the significance of the clinic, noting that one in three people in the county has a criminal record. “It’s important that we all feel like we could contribute without any barrier or stereotype of past criminal convictions,” she stated.

Attendees were met with numerous employers eager to discuss potential job opportunities immediately. The clinic not only focused on expunging records but also provided resources to assist participants in their job search. “We have resume writing help here today, so if they need help with their resume, if they need help with their LinkedIn, there’s support here today,” Brown explained.

With a strong commitment to community investment, Brown shared insights on the positive impact of the clinic. “Knowing that we’re helping so many people get past some things they’ve experienced in their life so that they can be better, it’s important,” she remarked. Since its inception, the clinic has successfully aided over 1,300 individuals in navigating the expungement process.

Looking ahead, the city plans to continue offering these valuable clinics, reinforcing its dedication to providing second chances and supporting individuals in their pursuit of employment. The Clinnic tools and resources demonstrate a proactive approach to inclusivity, transforming the professional landscape in Lexington for those ready to move forward.
