Missing 16-Year-Old with Autism Found Safe in Nicholasville After Community Search

Nicholasville – The Nicholasville Police Department confirmed late on December 6 that Christopher James Wheeler, a 16-year-old boy with autism, has been found safe. The department had issued a Golden Alert earlier in the day when Wheeler was reported missing.

Wheeler was last seen on Friday afternoon near Penn Drive. Authorities reported that he was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, a black jacket, dark blue jeans, and Adidas sneakers at the time of his disappearance. Friends and family, worried about his safety, noted that Wheeler goes by the nickname CJ.

According to West Jessamine High School, where Wheeler is a student, the last sighting occurred right after school hours. The school community was alerted to his absence with a text message distributed at approximately 7:00 p.m..

The swift response from the Nicholasville Police Department and the community’s willingness to assist in the search were pivotal in locating Wheeler without further incident.

As a Golden Alert was issued, the community rallied together, sharing information in hopes of bringing Wheeler home safely. This proactive approach highlights the importance of community vigilance when vulnerable individuals go missing.
