Wilmore, Kentucky – Local residents and visitors are poised for a festive weekend with several exciting events taking place across the area from November 30 to December 7, 2024.

The highly anticipated 12th Annual Christmas in the Country Craft Fair will take place at Nicholasville’s First Vineyard Winery on Saturday, November 30, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This free event features over 50 vendors selling handmade items by local artists, ensuring visitors can find unique gifts at reasonable prices. Attendees can enjoy food and drinks for sale, alongside the winery’s selection of wines, all set in a heated pavilion with ample parking. It’s a perfect opportunity for the community to sip, shop, and support local artisans during the holiday season.

Additionally, Wilmore will kick off its participation in the 15th Annual Shop Small Business Week, starting on November 30 and running through December 7. Twenty small businesses on East Main Street will take part, identifiable by special posters and balloons. Shoppers who frequent these businesses can expect unique tote bags and a chance to win one of four $30 gift certificates in a drawing the following week. According to American Express, a significant portion of spending at local businesses benefits the community, with 67 cents of every dollar remaining local.

On December 3, discuss an important aspect of American politics at Asbury University’s Electoral College Discussion at 7 p.m. The event features expert insights from Carolyn R. Dupont of EKU and Stephen Voss of UK, analyzing the relevance of the Electoral College in U.S. presidential elections. This engaging discussion is free and open to the public, making it an accessible opportunity for those interested in the political landscape.

The following evening, December 5, offers a chance to meet a notable local figure, Brigadier General Robert L. Givens, at the Wilmore Municipal Center at 6 p.m. The retired Air Force Fighter Pilot and former Inspector General of the United States Air Force will greet attendees and share insights from his distinguished career.

Festive cheer continues with the Jessamine County Fiscal Court Christmas Tree Lighting on December 6 at 6 p.m. This family-friendly event takes place on the courthouse lawn, featuring photo opportunities with Santa, light refreshments, and a special mailbox for letters to Santa. For those unable to attend in person, the lighting will be streamed live on social media.

Later that evening, the KCAL Gospel Showcase will take place from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Jessamine Christian Church, featuring various gospel performers. Admission is free, although donations will be collected to benefit the Jessamine County Schools Homeless Education Program, supporting students in need.
