GOP Targets Rep. Cherlynn Stevenson Amid Allegations Against Colleague Daniel Grossberg

Lexington, KY – A Republican political action committee is targeting state Rep. Cherlynn Stevenson amid allegations against embattled Rep. Daniel Grossberg. The GOPAC Election Fund’s mailer questions Stevenson’s actions, stating she “should have protected women” from Grossberg, who has faced accusations of sexual harassment and inappropriate conduct at a Louisville strip club.

The mailer poses the question, “What did Cherlynn Stevenson know and when?” It cites recent reports alleging Grossberg harassed young women and behaved inappropriately during club visits. The flyer accuses Stevenson, the House minority caucus chair, of misusing House Democratic Caucus funds to shield Grossberg, claiming that House Democrats assisted him in securing a 50-vote primary win despite the allegations.

In response, Stevenson stated that the actions of the out-of-state political group, which she describes as radical and funded by “dark money,” are unfounded and shameful. “They can’t win on facts alone,” she said, emphasizing her track record of defending women and her dedication to her district.

The controversy surrounding Grossberg escalated in July, prompting the Kentucky House of Representatives’ Democratic Caucus to vote for his expulsion. He remains unchallenged in the upcoming election, defending his 30th House District seat, which he has held since his election in 2022.

Meanwhile, Stevenson is facing a challenge from Republican Vanessa Grossl, who is not mentioned in the GOPAC mailer. House Democratic leadership, including Stevenson, has called for an ethics investigation while Grossberg has denied the allegations and refused to resign.

The mailer, which states it was “not authorized by any candidate or candidate’s committee,” adds another layer to an already contentious election cycle. As the election approaches, the discourse surrounding Stevenson and her handling of the Grossberg situation continues to dominate the conversation in Lexington.
