Father Jim Sichko Launches Bourbon Auction to Support Charitable Causes with Signed Pope Francis Bottles

Lexington, Kentucky – A unique initiative has emerged that combines fine bourbon with philanthropy, led by Father Jim Sichko, a Papal Missionary of Mercy. Earlier this year, Sichko delivered rare bourbon bottles from Willett Distillery to Pope Francis, and these special bottles are now set to aid charitable causes.

Two exclusive bottles signed by Pope Francis will be featured in Sotheby’s rare spirits auction, which commences online on November 20 and concludes with a live auction on December 7. The auction aims to raise funds for four charities, including the Maxwell Street Legal Immigration Clinic in Lexington and the Diocese of Lexington’s Preaching/Giving Ministry.

The first bourbon bottle, marking the 10th anniversary of Pope Francis’s papacy, carries the Papal Coat of Arms and holds 10-year-old Willett bourbon at 132.6 proof. It is part of a limited set of 149 bottles adorned with the Papal Seal. The second bottle, also 10 years old and bottled at 144.2 proof, celebrates the upcoming 2025 Jubilee Year and includes an official Jubilee sticker.

Each signed bottle is estimated to fetch between $1,000 and $10,000 at auction. Sotheby’s whiskey specialist, Zev Glesta, emphasized the significance of these bottles, describing them as not only collectibles but also meaningful contributions to charitable efforts.

In addition to the signed Willett bottles, Sichko has included a special bottle signed by former New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady in the auction. Sichko expressed his hope that these unique bourbon bottles would resonate with collectors who appreciate both their craftsmanship and the spirit of philanthropy.

Sichko’s charitable work aligns closely with the teachings of Pope Francis and St. Francis of Assisi, focusing on embracing community needs. “Every aspect of these charities follows his teaching,” Sichko stated, noting that proceeds from the auction will support critical local initiatives and services.

Furthermore, 15 bottles of the second Willett barrel pick will be available for public sale, with five bottles offered through Ernie’s Spirits in Lexington and ten through Jillian’s Bourbon & Bling in Richmond. However, sales from these bottles will not contribute to the charitable causes.

With Father Sichko’s innovative blend of bourbon culture and community support, the auction presents a dual opportunity for both bourbon enthusiasts and philanthropists to contribute to meaningful causes while acquiring unique collectibles.
