Bluegrass RIDE Announces New Route Expansion Linking Danville, Nicholasville, and Lexington, Transforming Public Transport in the Region

Bluegrass RIDE Introduces New Route Connecting Danville, Nicholasville, and Lexington

Redefining Public Transport in the Bluegrass Region

In a heartening show of progress, the Bluegrass RIDE has announced its latest route expansion that will connect Danville, Nicholasville, and Lexington. This public transit service, operated by Community Action, has been tirelessly striving to improve connectivity and accessibility across the region.

The route expansion is part of a broader refinement strategy aimed at revamping the erstwhile BGCAP, fondly remembered as G-Tran in Danville, Nich-Tran in Nicholasville, and Dan-Tran in Lexington.

Improved Convenience, New Buses, and Extended Hours

Feedback collected from the public has been instrumental in shaping the new avatar of Bluegrass RIDE. The much-anticipated enhancements include extended service hours, improved and deeper routes, and a fleet of new buses. In an attempt to avoid any confusion with the Community Action medical buses, the new public transit buses also sport a fresh and distinctive look.

This public transport service is proudly sponsored by Blue Grass Community Action and any profits gleaned from the transportation programs are plowed back into community services. This novel approach allows the organization to offer free local routes and very affordable rates for regional travel.

An Indispensable Service for the Community

As Lacey Johnson, the deviated fixed route driver supervisor so movingly put it, the Bluegrass RIDE has been life-changing for many residents who had previously struggled with transport issues. Johnson recounts an anecdote about a pair of grandparents who used to be home-bound as they either didn’t drive or were afraid to. The new routes have allowed them the joy of taking their young grandson out and about in Danville.

Another resident, Chris Gainey, had nothing but high praise for the bus service, rating the convenience it offers to be on the higher end of the spectrum. Gainey mentioned how he was able to visit Kroger, enjoy a meal at Red Robin, and then catch the bus back to Goodwill all with ease and in quick succession.

Community members can visit the Bluegrass RIDE webpage to find out more about how the service can be utilized along with details about routes, stops, and schedules.
