Baptist Health Cuts Ribbon on New Hamburg Location
LEXINGTON, Ky: Baptist Health has pushed forward with its expansion into Lexington’s Hamburg area. A project announced in 2019, the impressive $253 million development is now complete, leading up to its grand opening occurring in just a few days. The Saturday just gone marked the arrival of the facility on the health care scene, as the ribbon was cut on the new location and the public was invited for a comprehensive tour through its halls.
Baptist Story That Spans Generations
“The Baptist story is one that spans generations,” underscored Christopher Roty, president of Baptist Health Lexington. The state-of-the-art $253 million facility is anticipated to revolutionize how patients and families access health care in both central and eastern Kentucky.
Strategic Location and Job Creation
The Hamburg location has been strategically placed near I-75 and I-64. This placement will make it easier for out of town patients to visit. Lexington Mayor Linda Gorton voiced her approval, stating that the spanking new facility will support the city’s economy by creating hundreds of new jobs. A goal of employing around 700 people has been expressed, with 300 already extensively employed.
A Boost for Lexington’s Economy
“This development is not only bringing new jobs to our community, but new revenues that will help continue to build our quality of life and maintain our low cost of living,” Mayor Gorton highlighted.
Community Tour and Personal Experiences
Members of the community were invited to partake in a tour of the new location. Many of them shared personal narratives about being Baptist Health patients, including Lieutenant Governor Jacqueline Coleman.
“It was just two months after Governor Beshear and I won our first election in 2019 that I became the highest elected woman in Kentucky’s history to give birth while in office, and I did it at Baptist Health,” shared Coleman.
Acknowledging Healthcare Heroes
Baptist Health Hamburg has been recognized as a center for healthcare heroes. From delivering babies to making sure their mothers get to watch them grow up; the team was acknowledged for their exceptional dedication and service through their work.
“To the doctors and nurses, administrators, custodial staff and all of the future employees here, for the lives that you’ll change, for the long hours that you will put in, and the compassion and the service and the sacrifice that you will provide in this space. Thank you,” stated Coleman.
The Future of Baptist Health Hamburg
Baptist Health Hamburg is slated to open for patient care from next Monday. Its facilities include an ambulatory surgery center, an emergency department, a cancer center, and specialty care alongside a multistory physician office complex. These developments have set in motion the growth of Lexington in the healthcare sector, and has raised the hope of the city’s residents in terms of better healthcare services and easy accessibility.
