Chaos in Monticello: Allegations of Attempted Murder Shake a Southern Kentucky Community

Monticello, Kentucky, has found itself in the eye of a storm after a shocking incident that occurred late Saturday night. A 25-year-old man, Chase Jackson, is in the Wayne County Jail, accused of attempting to murder his own mother and grandmother. The details surrounding the events have left many residents baffled and concerned.

The Disturbing Incident

The night of the shooting was chaotic. It all started on Winchester Road, where a frantic call to 911 provided a glimpse into the dire situation. Audrey Jackson, Chase’s mother, asserted in her call that her son had shot her in both the head and arm. Despite her injuries, in a moment of pure bravery, she managed to reach out for help. “I need somebody,” she repeatedly said, her voice shaking with fear as she identified her son as the shooter.

According to the police, after the alleged shooting, Jackson darted away down Kentucky 90, where authorities later apprehended him. However, Jackson has a different story to tell. From his cell, he insists that he is not the person responsible for the heinous act. He claims he heard gunshots and, in a panic, jumped out of a window to escape the chaos that ensued. “I get back in my room, door flies back open, next thing I know, pow, pow he‘s at it again,” he recounted.

The Allegations and Reactions

Chase Jackson is facing serious charges, including attempted murder and assault, while his mother Audrey and his 94-year-old grandmother are reported to be in critical condition at a nearby hospital. Relatives have chimed in, stating that the shooting stemmed from a heated argument over access to a car. They firmly believe that Chase did not jump out of a window to escape but rather that he used it to enter the home where the shooting happened.

This incident isn’t Jackson’s first run-in with the law. In November 2021, he orchestrated a wild police chase after stealing a police car, which garnered a massive response from law enforcement. “After that, I had like 15 cop cars, seven state troopers, three choppers on me. It was crazy,” he shared when reflecting on that chaotic episode in his past. Though he pleaded guilty and received a five-year sentence, he was released early for time served.

The Community Reacts

The community of Monticello is in shock, grappling with the implications of such violence erupting from within a family. Friends and neighbors are trying to make sense of what led to this tragedy. This incident raises questions about family dynamics, mental health, and the potential for further violence.

As the investigation continues, many locals find themselves whispering about the reasons behind such a dramatic turn of events in what they once considered a quiet, peaceful place. People are expressing concern for the victims, hoping for their recovery, while others are left wondering about the future of the Jackson family and the community at large.

A Family in Crisis

For now, Chase Jackson remains in custody, maintaining his innocence amidst serious accusations. It is a tragic situation not only for the immediate family but also for the Monticello community, which now faces the difficult reality of the effects of violence within their borders.

As updates about the condition of the victims and further proceedings unfold, many are left hoping for healing—for both the injured and the troubled individual at the center of this heartbreaking case.
