Lexington – Four individuals have been arrested in connection with multiple bank robberies occurring in Lexington and Covington, with the most recent incident taking place on Richmond Road. The arrests include Jamalachi Taylor, 21, and Jaycorion Dawson, 18, who were apprehended following the robbery at Central Bank on Wednesday afternoon. The robbery occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. when the suspect entered the bank, demanded money, and then fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Shortly after the robbery, the vehicle used in the crime was located in the 1000 block of East New Circle Road. Both Taylor and Dawson are currently being held at the Fayette County Detention Center. A significant police presence was reported around 4 p.m. on New Circle Road near Trade Center Drive in response to the incident.

Additionally, Corey Burch, 36, was arrested on February 1 in Nicholasville related to the same bank robbery and faces multiple charges, including first-degree robbery, carjacking, and first-degree fleeing and evading police. He also has an unrelated warrant. Burch is currently held at the Jessamine County Detention Center.

Another suspect involved, Danzell Donte Cruse, 30, was arrested on January 30. He is charged with first-degree robbery concerning the theft of over $1,000 during the bank robbery in Lexington. Reports indicate that Cruse attempted to destroy evidence by discarding stolen money while fleeing from police. His charges extend beyond robbery to include third-degree fleeing and evading police, trafficking marijuana (less than 8 oz.), and aggravated trafficking in controlled substances (less than or equal to 28 grams of fentanyl). He is also lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center.

In a separate incident, an armed bank robbery occurred at the U.S. Bank on Madison Avenue in Covington. During the attempted detainment of suspect Charles Davis, shots were exchanged between him and police officers around 3:01 p.m. Davis was subsequently shot and transported to UC Medical Center for treatment. His injuries are reported to be non-life-threatening, and he is currently in stable condition.

No police officers were injured during the confrontation with Davis. The two officers involved in the incident have been placed on administrative leave as a standard procedure following an officer-involved shooting. The Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team is conducting an ongoing investigation into the Covington shooting.

The recent surge in bank robberies in Central Kentucky has raised concerns within law enforcement and the community. The interconnected cases highlight the need for vigilance and collaboration among local police departments. Authorities are still seeking additional information regarding these incidents and urge the public to report any relevant details that could assist in the ongoing investigations.

As local law enforcement continues to address these criminal cases, the community remains on alert, and police encourage residents to remain aware of their surroundings, especially near financial institutions. Central Bank and U.S. Bank have not released any statements regarding the robberies at this time, but investigations are actively underway.
