Lexington, KY – Central Kentucky is set to come alive this April with a variety of entertainment options for residents and visitors alike. From comedy shows to live music concerts, horse racing, and family-friendly events, the upcoming month promises excitement for all ages.

Starting off the month, Laurie Kilmartin, an Emmy-nominated comedian and former staff writer for Conan O’Brien, will perform at Comedy Off Broadway in Lexington from April 3-5. Kilmartin will present five shows, with ticket prices ranging from $9 to $18. All attendees must be at least 18 years old and present a valid ID, with doors opening 30 minutes before each show.

Also kicking off on April 3, Disney on Ice will present “Mickey’s Search Party” at Rupp Arena with six shows from April 3-6. Popular characters including Mickey Mouse, Moana, and Elsa will entertain audiences. Additionally, certain performances will feature a Moana Character Experience one hour prior to the shows, with main show tickets starting at $23.50 plus fees and Character Experience tickets priced at $55 plus fees.

April brings several ongoing festivities as well. The annual Thursday Night Live concert series will launch its 30th anniversary on April 3 at Fifth Third Bank Pavilion in Tandy Park, with the opening show featuring the band Einstein’s Hammer from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

A highlight of the month, Keeneland‘s spring horse racing meet will begin on April 4, running daily through April 25, with the exception of Mondays, Tuesdays, and Easter Sunday. General admission is priced at $10, and the Central Bank Ashland stakes race boasts a purse of $750,000, drawing racing enthusiasts to the venue.

The Central Kentucky Home & Garden Show is also on schedule from April 4-6 at Central Bank Center. This event will showcase various vendors and celebrity speakers, with the first 50 guests each day receiving complimentary mini potted roses. Tickets for adults are $11, with a $2 discount available for online purchases made before April 3.

Music lovers can look forward to the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band concert on April 10 at the Lexington Opera House, as the band embarks on its farewell tour. Tickets for this performance start at $49.50 plus fees. Following this event, the Lexington Philharmonic will present Blockbuster Broadway on April 11 at the Singletary Center for the Arts, featuring renditions of popular Broadway shows. Ticket prices range from $28 to $78.

On the same day, the renowned Christian band MercyMe will perform at the Lexington Opera House at 7 p.m., with tickets beginning at $25 plus fees. The annual Greek Sing will also take place at Rupp Arena on April 12, starting at 5 p.m., with tickets selling at $33.50 plus fees, benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Families can enjoy the Easter Egg-Citement celebration at Eckert’s Orchard on April 12, 13, and 19, which includes activities for children such as an Easter egg hunt. Admission is $20 online and $25 at the door. Various Easter egg hunts and decorating events are scheduled across Lexington, including ones at Kenwick and Tates Creek Community Centers on April 15, and Dunbar Community Center on April 19.

Country music fans can anticipate a concert by Tyler Childers at Kroger Field on April 19 as part of his “On The Road” tour, featuring special guests Wynonna Judd and S.G. Goodman. The month will conclude with a performance by the Avett Brothers featuring Houndmouth on April 25 at 8 p.m. at Rupp Arena, where tickets start at $63 plus fees. Additionally, the Lexington Ballet School & Company will present A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Lexington Opera House on April 25-26, with tickets starting at $33 plus fees.

Lastly, the community can partake in Kite Fest, hosted by Lexington Parks & Recreation, at Masterson Station Park on April 26. This event features free participation and activities, including kite flying and children’s games, perfect for families seeking some outdoor fun.

With such a diverse array of events taking place, April in Central Kentucky offers exciting options for everyone to enjoy.
