Tragic Aircraft Crash in Jessamine County Claims Lives of Local Couple

Jessamine County, Ky. — The identities of the victims in a tragic aircraft crash on Sunday evening have been released. According to Jessamine County Coroner Michael Hughes, the deceased are 72-year-old Micheal D. Murphy and 72-year-old Connie J. Murphy, both residents of Lexington, Kentucky. The couple was confirmed to be husband and wife.

The incident occurred around 6 p.m. on Sunday in a field near Ashgrove, when a single-powered parachute aircraft, identified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as a Buckeye Dream Machine, crashed.

According to the Jessamine County Sheriff’s Office, the crash was reported by a passerby who noticed the downed aircraft and promptly called 911. Sheriff Kevin Grimes stated that emergency responders arrived within minutes, quickly ascertaining that both individuals aboard had succumbed to their injuries.

Micheal Murphy, an experienced pilot with roughly 20 years of flying experience, was piloting the aircraft at the time of the crash. The FAA’s preliminary report indicates that the aircraft “crashed under unknown circumstances during landing, resulting in it flipping over.” This aspect of the incident is currently under investigation.

Authorities continue to gather details surrounding the crash as the inquiry proceeds. The loss of the Murphy couple has sent shockwaves through the local community, as tributes begin to pour in for the couple known to many.

This is a developing story, and further updates will be released as more information becomes available.
