‘Adopt a Single Mom’ Initiative Prepares for Major Holiday Distribution in Lexington

Lexington, Ky. – A program aimed at assisting those in need, particularly single mothers who have experienced domestic abuse, is gearing up for a significant seasonal distribution. The ‘Adopt a Single Mom’ initiative, founded by Carla Matamoro 15 years ago, is set to distribute food baskets and gifts to over 400 families this upcoming November 17.

The program operates under the auspices of Pure Worship International Ministries LLC and collaborates with local organizations, including Crossroads Church. Matamoro created the initiative as a personal response to her own past experiences with domestic violence, aiming to support others who face similar hardships.

As the need for assistance continues to rise, Matamoro emphasizes the emotional impact of the program on recipients. “When they get these baskets and see what’s in there, some of them cry,” she stated. The program seeks both food and monetary donations to ensure they can meet the growing demand.

Distribution of the food baskets will take place on November 17, and organizers are calling for donations to arrive before that date. Alongside this food assistance, the program will soon begin preparing for the holiday season, collecting Christmas presents and toys for families in need.

Those interested in contributing to the cause can reach out by calling (859) 433-1840. The program aims to not only provide sustenance but also foster a sense of community and support for mothers striving to create better lives for their children.

The initiative reflects a broader commitment to uplifting individuals affected by domestic abuse, highlighting the critical role community partnerships play in achieving these goals. As the holiday season approaches, the organization remains focused on making a meaningful impact through acts of kindness and support.
