Paris, KY – A dog named Lynch has captured the attention of animal lovers after enduring a troubling history of abandonment. The Paris Animal Welfare Society reports that Lynch first arrived at their shelter as a stray in May 2023 but was reclaimed by his owner. Unfortunately, Lynch returned to the shelter as a stray once again in February 2024 when his owner failed to reclaim him. At that time, he weighed approximately 65 pounds and was later adopted.
On the night of November 24, the shelter received a distressing notification that Lynch had been abandoned at a different shelter located about an hour away. Upon his return, the staff was devastated to discover that Lynch’s weight had plummeted to just 39.3 pounds. “To say we were shocked on the condition of the dog is an understatement,” stated a shelter representative.
Despite the severe neglect, Lynch displayed a remarkable spirit, remaining cheerful with his tail continually wagging. “Our team is absolutely heartbroken that Lynch ended up in this situation where he was failed by humans,” the representative added. The shelter has since provided Lynch with the necessary love and care to help him recuperate and regain his strength.
The shelter has contacted the proper authorities to initiate an investigation into Lynch’s abandonment. Additionally, they are seeking donations to support his recovery, including funding for medical care, high-value food, bedding, and toys. “We know this baby deserves the absolute best now more than ever,” emphasized the shelter representative.
In a twist of hope, the shelter announced that as of Wednesday, it has received multiple applications from individuals interested in offering Lynch a new home. The current focus is on ensuring Lynch receives the necessary treatment before he transitions to a loving environment.
Lynch’s story highlights not only the struggles faced by abandoned pets but also the commendable efforts of local shelters aiming to provide refuge and rehabilitation for these vulnerable animals. The Paris Animal Welfare Society continues to advocate for responsible pet ownership and community support in their mission to help animals in need.
