Lexington, Ky. – A Lexington resident recently experienced a disturbing violation of her property as someone stole Christmas decorations from her front porch. Emily Kennedy reported the incident, which took place on a Saturday evening, just a week before Christmas.

According to Kennedy, she noticed someone approaching her doorstep around 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 16. Initially, she thought the individual was a delivery driver due to their hooded appearance. However, after reviewing her Ring camera footage, she was shocked to discover that the unknown person was not delivering anything; instead, they walked up to her porch and took her holiday decorations before leaving.

“What an unbelievable thing someone would do a week before Christmas,” Kennedy remarked, emphasizing the emotional rather than monetary value of her decorations. “To me, anything that I buy to make my house look nice at Christmas, you know, that’s worth something,” she added.

While the items stolen were not particularly valuable, Kennedy expressed her concern over the sense of security in her neighborhood. “It’s kind of a crazy sight to see somebody coming up and, kind of, violating your property, trespassing on your front porch,” she stated.

Following this incident, Kennedy is implementing preventive measures, such as installing additional security cameras. She, along with several Facebook commenters, is left pondering the possible motivations behind the theft, speculating about a dire need prompting such an action. “If it was something that somebody needed, they might have been scared to ask,” she said, “but these were decorations.”

As of now, Kennedy is not aware of any other neighborhood thefts but urges others to secure their decorations. “It’s just a really sad time of year to not get to put out all of your pretty things,” she noted. She recommends that residents “anchor it down,” and consider bringing valuables inside at night.

Kennedy has filed a police report regarding the incident. Authorities are encouraging anyone with information about the individual seen in the video to contact the Lexington Police.
