One Arrested Following Pursuit and Collision in Georgetown
Georgetown, KY — One individual has been taken into custody after a dramatic police pursuit ended in a vehicle collision on Cherry Blossom Way Monday afternoon. The incident unfolded when a white sedan, reported stolen from Ohio and linked to a robbery, was spotted by law enforcement.
According to Scott County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) Captain Josh Bedson, the pursuit began after officers received an alert from a flock camera identifying the stolen vehicle. “Upon initiation of a traffic stop, a brief pursuit followed, ending in this collision and the apprehension of the male driver,” he stated.
The pursuit reached a critical point as the white sedan sped around a curve on Cherry Blossom Way, resulting in a collision with another vehicle headed northbound. Joe Perry, the driver of the impacted Toyota sedan, described the harrowing experience. “The car was traveling at a high rate of speed,” Perry remarked. “When he went over the edge, it flipped.”
After hitting Perry’s vehicle, the white sedan veered off the road and came to rest in the grass, just feet away from the busy thoroughfare. Despite the seriousness of the situation, no serious injuries were reported, although there was a woman and a baby inside the fleeing vehicle at the time of the crash.
The Georgetown Police Department also responded to the scene, providing assistance to the SCSO during the unfolding events. As investigations continue, law enforcement aims to determine the full circumstances surrounding the theft, the robbery in Ohio, and the pursuit that led to this incident.
Authorities have not released the identity of the driver apprehended. The incident is a stark reminder of the dangers posed by high-speed chases and the unpredictable nature of vehicle pursuits.
More updates will follow as the situation develops and as further information is made available by law enforcement.
