Wingstop Set to Open Third Location in Lexington, Expanding Competitive Chicken Wing Market

Lexington is set to welcome its third Wingstop location, as the popular chicken wing restaurant plans to open a new outlet on Woodland Avenue. The Texas-based chain, recognized for its social media presence and spicy wings, is expanding its footprint before the first two locations on Richmond Road and Tates Creek Road even open their doors.

The new Wingstop will occupy the site at 384 Woodland Ave., nestled between an existing Subway and the future location of a revamped bar, following the recent closure of the former Lynagh’s Irish Pub. A permit application for this location was filed with the city on November 7.

While the outlet on 3080 Richmond Road is expected to open within the current month, specific details regarding the openings of the other locations have not been provided by the chain’s representatives, who did not respond for further comment.

Wingstop offers a diverse menu that includes bone-in and boneless wings, along with chicken tenders and sandwiches. Customers can choose from 12 signature flavors, like lemon pepper, buffalo-style original hot, and hickory smoked BBQ. The restaurant also features sides including hand-cut Buffalo Ranch Fries and Cajun Fried Corn. Dipping sauces such as homemade ranch and honey mustard are available to complement the meals.

The entrance of Wingstop into Central Kentucky’s bustling chicken and wing market brings increased competition. The new location will face off against established players such as WingKYng, Buffalo Wild Wings, Golden Flame Hot Wings, and others.

Additionally, the former Lynagh’s location is being revitalized by local business owners Austin Brashear and Josh Brock, who are transforming it into a new bar slated to open in early 2025. The area is also seeing the recent launch of 2 Fisted Willie’s, a country-themed bar with a patio, further enhancing the culinary landscape where Wingstop will soon join.

With anticipation building for its arrival, Wingstop seems poised to make a significant impact in Lexington’s dining scene, appealing to both local residents and visitors alike.
