Lexington, Ky. – A local resident is taking action to support women impacted by breast cancer through the FabOver40 campaign. Carla Switzer, who lost her mother-in-law to the disease, is representing Kentucky in this year’s annual online fundraiser aimed at raising awareness and funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

Every year, the FabOver40 competition gathers candidates from across the nation, with participants raising money for breast cancer initiatives. Since its inception in 2022, the campaign has generated over $18 million for breast cancer resources and education. Candidates compete not just for a grand prize that includes a spa vacation, a feature on the cover of NewBeauty magazine, and $40,000, but primarily to drive change and provide support for those affected by this illness.

Switzer emphasizes the importance of awareness, stating, “Many women need this. They need resources, they need education.” Although she leads in her competition group, her focus is not solely on winning; it is to contribute positively to the cause. “I saw this as an avenue to make that contribution,” she added.

If she emerges victorious, Switzer plans to donate $10,000 of her winnings to assist victims of Hurricane Helene. “It’d be wonderful to bring hope to families that are without their homes,” she expressed, highlighting her commitment to supporting those in need.

Switzer has been actively campaigning for the past month and remains optimistic about her efforts. As a candidate, she encourages others to participate and donate to this vital initiative. With the campaign underway, those interested can vote for Switzer and contribute through the provided links available online.

The FabOver40 campaign serves as a significant platform, intertwining the fight against breast cancer with broader humanitarian efforts. Switzer’s drive exemplifies the spirit of community support and resilience as she aims to spread hope and healing for affected families.
