19-Year-Old Charged with Murder in Lexington Shooting Death of Teen

Lexington, Ky. – A 19-year-old named Jon’Tay Mattingly is facing serious charges following the shooting death of 17-year-old Kenlon Johnson in March. Mattingly was arrested on Thursday and charged with murder, in connection with the tragic incident that occurred on Rockaway Place.

During his arraignment held via closed-circuit camera from the Fayette County Detention Center, Mattingly entered a not guilty plea. The judge has scheduled a preliminary hearing for November 7 at 8:30 a.m. Mattingly’s bond has been set at $1 million. If he posts bond, stipulations include electronic monitoring, a prohibition on possessing firearms, and no contact with the victim’s family.

Authorities utilized Flock cameras in the area, which played a crucial role in identifying Mattingly as a suspect in the murder case.
