Multiple Pedestrian-Involved Crashes Reported in Lexington

Lexington, Ky. – Police responded to multiple pedestrian-involved accidents at busy intersections on Thursday morning. The incidents occurred shortly after 5:30 a.m. and continued into the morning rush hour.

The first reported crash took place at Cooper Drive and Veterans Drive, just outside the campus of the University of Kentucky, around 7:30 a.m.. UK Police responded to the scene where a pedestrian was involved. Injuries were reported, though the current condition of the pedestrian remains unclear. Initially, one lane was blocked, but it has since reopened.

Another serious incident involved a pedestrian being struck by a truck while attempting to cross Winchester Road at Elkhorn Road around 5:30 a.m. Crews arrived to find that the pedestrian had been hit while crossing the busy street. The individual was transported to a local hospital, with authorities noting that their injuries were non-life-threatening. All lanes of inbound Winchester Road were closed during the response but have now reopened to traffic.

Police indicated that, at this time, no charges are expected to be filed in connection with either incident. Investigations are ongoing as authorities assess the circumstances surrounding the crashes.
